Blood Brother Takes Victory Lap at Rodeo
Susan Kanode

DENVER, Colo. --- A bronc rider from Texas met up with a bucking horse from Wyoming for a very exciting ride at the Denver Coliseum on Sunday.

Dean Wadsworth from Ozona, Texas, had an opportunity to get on the great bucking horse named Blood Brother at the National Western Stock Show Rodeo. When the judges added up their scores, Wadsworth was atop the leader board in the second round of competition with an 88-point effort.

Blood Brother has a reputation among the cowboys as being a very rank and hard to ride horse. If a cowboy makes it to the eight-second mark, he is very likely to get a check. The horse has been among the top three saddle bronc horses in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association several times.

After the 2008 rodeo season, he will be retired at Burch Rodeo’s ranch near Rosette, Wyo.

“He’s always been an outstanding horse,” Chad Burch said. “We want him to go home and enjoy some big Wyoming pastures. He doesn’t owe us anything.”

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association sanctioned rodeo continues here on Monday at 2 p.m. Evening competition will feature the Martin Luther King African-American Heritage Rodeo of Champions.
