Smart Keeps Momentum Going SAN ANTONIO --- Chance Smart may own a piece of the AT & T Center by the time the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo is over. Smart won the Xtreme Bulls here last Thursday and over $19,000 for his total score of 178 points. He and his wife Summer spent the next two days here while Smart got on three more bulls. Drawing good bulls and riding consistently is paying off for the 24-year-old cowboy from Philadelphia, Miss. Friday night, he got on the bull named Red Onion owned by Sammy Andrews and rode him for 91 points. Saturday afternoon found him scoring 90 points on Powder River Rodeo’s Savage Shaker. At the Saturday evening performance it was the great bull Crossfire Hurricane owned by D H & T Rodeo that took Smart to the top of the leader board. His score of 89 points put him in first place in each preliminary round of competition and in command of the over-all standings with 270 points on three rides. Smart was one of two bull riders to be successful on all three rides. In second place is Will Farrell from Thermopolis, Wyo., who has a total of 242 points on three rides. The saddle bronc riding horses have been sending riders to the dirt more often than not here so far. Bobby Griswold, from Geary, Okla., is the only man to be successful on three rides. He has a total score of 225 points. Familiar faces to team roping fans, Jake Barnes and Clay O’Brien Cooper have been the most consistent team ropers here. With Barnes doing the heading and Cooper heeling, they had to 6.2-second runs and one that stopped the clock at 6.3. They do have an opportunity to qualify for the finals here with a total time of 18.7. Rodeo competition continues on Sunday with a matinee performance at 1 p.m.
