George Doak, a member of the ProRodeo Hall of Fame as a bullfighter, is scheduled for quadruple bypass surgery today in his home state of Texas.

Doak, who turns 73 on May 18, was taken to the hospital with blocked arteries, but doctors have told his wife Reada that there is no heart damage and the prognosis for a full recovery is good.

A bull rider and bareback rider in his youth, Doak started his professional bullfighting career in Woodstown Pilesgrove, N.J. He fought bulls at the National Finals Rodeo in 1971 and 1977 and for many years worked the National High School Finals Rodeo and the College National Finals Rodeo.

He worked in tandem with Junior Meek for many years, and they were inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colo., together in 2000.
