WACO, Texas – Guytin Tsosie crossed paths with a Black Kat on May 5 and made his own good luck.

The 20-year-old Navajo cowboy rode the Andrews Rodeo bull of that name for 89.5 points at the Extraco Coliseum to lock up his first Xtreme Bulls Tour Division 2 title.

Tsosie, of Farmington, N.M., finished with a two-head score of 174 points to hold off Kanin Asay – the only other contestant to complete two qualified rides – by a margin of four points and earn $3,669.

It was one of Tsosie’s best performances since buying his PRCA card a little over a year ago, given that Black Kat has a buck off rate of better than 70 percent and has been selected for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in each of the last two years.

Steve Woolsey finished second in Round 6 of the 2011 Wrangler NFR with an 88.5-point ride on Black Kat and Jacob O’Mara won the final round of the All American ProRodeo Finals in the Extraco Coliseum last October with a 92-pointer.
